Lockdown review
This is a great time to think about your business as it prepares hopefully very shortly to re-start its activities. Use this time to review the health of your business and make the necessary changes that will accommodate the current situation and be the right platform to re-launch it. Over the next few days I will suggest various points for your attention.
1. Business plan – is it still fit for purpose? Is it still relevant and reflecting your business today? What adjustments would you need to make sure that it still guides you to profit?
2. Business operation - Is the way that your business functions still effective? Are you wasting time and energy, let alone finances? How can you increase productivity and reduce waste?
3. Money matters - Talking of money, is there any area where you can reduce your costs? Do you have the right price structure in place? Would it be possible to increase your prices but still remaining competitive? If you have outside suppliers are you sure you are getting the best deal from them?
4. Marketing strategy - As you restart your business is the current marketing strategy still relevant and appropriate to your business? Are you promoting your business and services in the right way? Does your branding need revisiting? In this changed environment are you sure you will still be reaching the right clients/customers or would you need to make adjustments?
5. Website - What about your website? Is it still doing the job it is supposed to do? Is still reflecting the nature and character of your business? Is it still drawing the right enquiries? Is it viewable on both desktops and portable devices? Is it quick to lead and content savvy? If not get in touch with your webdesigner asap!
6. Your literature - Is it time to review and refresh your promotional/advertising literature? Is your literature still reflecting the scope, nature, character and above all objectives of your business? Are you sure that your branding is still the right one for your business and the time we are in? If not get in touch with a trusted and reputable graphic designer and printer who could bring you up to date asap.
7. Your customers/clients – During this lockdown period have you been in touch with your previous customers/clients? If yes, great and make sure that you let them know when you are open for business and that you are there for them to provide the same excellent service. If not, get in touch with them NOW and start encouraging them to visit your business, use your facilities, avail of your expertise and skills. And with both groups start brainstorming about possible needs they may have in the short and medium term and how you can meet those needs.
